Sa mata ng bagyo

            Malapit nang manganak sa gubat ang buntis na usa. Natagpuan niya ang tagong talahiban sa gilid ng malaking ilog. Tila ligtas na pook ‘yon. At bigla na ngang nagsimula ang pagluluwal ng sanggol.

            Sa sandali ring ‘yon namuo ang mga itim na ulap. Kinidlatan at nagliyab ang gubat. Paglingon ng usa sa kaliwa nakita niya ang mangangaso na nakaumang ang riple sa kanya. Sa kanan namataan naman ang gutom na leon na dadambahin siya.

            Ano ang gagawin ng buntis na usa? Manganganak na siya. Ano’ng mangyayari? Makakapagluwal ba siya? O masusunog ba lahat ng apoy? Mapapaslang ba siya ng bala ng mangangaso? O lalapain ba siya ng gutom na leon na papalapit? Ipit siya ng sunog sa isang panig at malaking ilog sa kabila. At papalapit pa ang dalawang panganib.

            Ano’ng gagawin? Pinasya ng usa na pagtuonan ang pagluluwal ng bagong buhay.

Sa mata ng bagyo

            Nagkasunod-sunod din ang mga pangyayari. Kumidlat muli at nasilaw ang mangangaso. Nakalabit nito ang gatilyo, at tinamaan ng bala kaya bumulagta ang leon. Bumuhos ang malakas na ulan at naapula ang apoy sa gubat. At lumabas ang malusog na sanggol na usa.

            Sa buhay din natin ay may pagkakataong kailangan magpasya — habang ipit sa lahat ng panig ng masasamang naiisip at posibilidad. May mga pangamba na gumugupo at gumagapi sa atin.

            Maari matuto sa buntis na usa na, sa gan’ung sitwasyon, inisip na lang iluwal ang anak. Wala na sa kamay niya ang ibang mga kaganapan, at hindi naman niya mababago ang resulta, kung sakuna o kamatayan.

            Tanungin natin ang sarili? Saan ang ating pagtuon? Saan ang ating tiwala at pag-asa? Sa gitna ng anomang bagyo, tumalima tayo sa ating Diyos, na palagi tayong binabantayan, ginagabayan.
